I enjoy reading, but it is hard to find the time. This summer instead of waiting to have more time, I am making time. I am going to incorporate a daily reading time into our busy schedules. Not only do I want to dive into some books this summer (and enjoy some quiet time in the house while the kids are awake - is that possible?), but I want to encourage my children to read. Sitting down with a book is a wonderful way to model reading for pleasure (rather than a school assignment).
We have always read books as part of our bedtime routine, but being intentional about a daily reading hour will not only fill my need for some refueling time during the day, but will encourage healthy reading habits. We have tried it a couple days and so far it is working and here are the reasons why:
1. Consistency. We are incorporating this into our daily routine (usually at the same time every day, but that isn't always possible). I am committed to making this work because I enjoy it, am invested in it and have encouraged my children to be invested in it and enjoy it as well.
