I certainly had to be on my toes.
* Keeping an active 15 month old occupied,
* Making sure my 4 year old timed the bathroom visits when the fasten seat
belt sign was off,
* Keeping track of all the snacks and toys and books (I think we only lost one item)
* Managing the children's noise to an acceptable level,
* Staying postiive during that last hour which felt like an eternity
It is definitely not a fun trip and in fact I sat in my seat wondering
about how nice it would be to fly alone - just the flight would feel like vacation. 5 + hours to sleep, read, watch a movie or even do some work. But, for the sake of visiting friends and family it is worth the challenges and over all it was not too bad. The worst case scenarios did not happen - no plane delay, no diaper blow out, and no screaming children (at least not at the same time).
There might have been some dirty looks from other passengers, but I did not notice them and in fact everyone from the flight crew to the other passengers were very nice and offered to help me.
Although iI cannot say it is enjoyable, flying with children is doable!
