We made it there, but then we had to get home. And, the return flight was not as smooth. And, although I was tempted to put my children in the overhead compartments, one sat in my lap and one sat next to me on our flight and this is how it went:
Our flight was delayed, there were meltdowns, there were outfit changes, there were messes, there were parents bickering about the best way to handle the outbursts, there were children resisting sleep and then the late night arrival, which was even later thanks to the flight delay.
But, eleven hours after starting our journey, we arrived home and we all slept in.....I mean really slept in....my son did not wake me up until 10AM. This is unheard of, he had never, ever slept until 10!
So like a lot of things in parenting, if we can ride out the difficult times, we can enjoy the more pleasant and maybe even peaceful moments.
And, then it is on to the next task.....getting them adjusted to the current time zone......
